Shanghai 2013: Conference and Awards events from CDN and Interior Motives

Mon, 11 Feb 2013

Can Design News and Interior Motives are gearing up for our annual visit to China for a number of important events in the industry's calendar, kicking off with the 2013 Interior Motives China Conference. This year's theme, ‘Technology and tradition – old meets new in modern-day China' features a new highly interactive format guaranteed to inspire and illuminate.

Last year's event – timed to coincide with the run-up to the Beijing auto show – attracted over 400 senior OEM designers and Tier supplier executives from around the world, and this one promises to be bigger and better than ever. You can expect a mix of keynote addresses by world-famous designers, optional breakout sessions and a range of interactive zones where the latest design trends and technology can be explored.

This unique and exclusive two-day event will take place on 18 and 19 April at the Hilton Hongqiao hotel in Shanghai. Registration is now open, so don't miss out on the chance to hear from some of the biggest names in the industry, including Simon Loasby of VW China, Xiao Ning of GAC, Dr Mike Ma of Geely, GM China's Wulin Gaowa, Zheng Sulin of Dongfeng, Audi's Wouter Kets, Gustavo Guerra of Volvo China and Ren Zhi Gang of Shanghai Hama, to name but a few.

We're also looking forward to the presentation of the fourth annual Car Design News China Awards, which sets out to find the most promising talent in the country. The shortlist, selected from over 250 entries, will be announced mid-March with the awards ceremony taking place on 18 April.

This year competition briefs were set by design chiefs at Audi, JAC, Qoros, Volvo Trucks and Volkswagen with the promise of fully funded placements at an international design school in the Fall (Autumn). You can check out more details about the contest on the dedicated website.

Our annual Car Design Night 2013 returns to Shanghai and is already creating a buzz within the industry too, promising as a to be a glamorous and glittering evening where you can meet and network with the best and brightest. This year it's taking place on 20 April at The Waterhouse on the Bund. It's not to be missed, so make sure you visit the official website to register.

See you in Shanghai.
