Suzuki S-Cross production version at Geneva 2013

Wed, 06 Feb 2013

The Suzuki S-Cross – which arrived at the 2012 Paris Motor Show as a Concept – will arrive in production guise at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show.

The Paris Motor Show last year saw Suzuki roll out a concept for a new C-segment crossover – the Suzuki S-Cross Concept – which was clearly close to production ready.

So it’s no surprise that the production version of the Suzuki S-Cross is arriving at the Geneva Motor Show next month – before heading for a Suzuki dealer near you by the end of 2013 – looking very faithful to the S-Cross Concept design.

We did think the S-Cross could replace one of Suzuki’s current models, but it seems not. Instead, the S-Cross is an addition to the Suzuki range and drops in to perhaps the most competitive part of the compact SUV market, up against cars like the Nissan Qashqai and Hyundai ix35.

But the S-Cross does offer promise. A more fluid style than we’re used to from Suzuki, underpinned by a new platform and Suzuki’s undoubted ability with 4WD, does give the S-Cross – which will be available as both a FWD and four wheel drive – a fighting chance of mopping up credible sales.

The Suzuki S-Cross will be revealed at Geneva next month and go on sale in the UK by the end of 2013.
