The Extreme Mini Adventure Money Can’t Buy

Wed, 30 Apr 2014

IT’S NOT every day as an apprentice you get to build a new concept car for your employer. However that’s exactly what a lucky few trainees did when BMW tasked them to make their design study a reality.

Choosing the firm’s Mini Paceman as the donor car, the talented apprentices transformed the vehicle into a rugged two-door pick-up – a long way from the original motor’s sleek coupe origins.

And this was no superficial cosmetic upgrade as, along with the car’s extra spotlights, chunky tyres and roof-mounted rack, the Paceman Adventure concept gained a fully functioning pick-up load bed complete with a bash-proof lining, plus a snorkel and raised suspension to make use of its all-wheel drive running gear.

In keeping with the car’s outdoor-themed makeover, it was finished in a rather fetching shade of metallic green. Sadly, despite the work done by its apprentices, BMW has said it has no plans to put the car into production. Sadly you’ll have to make do with a regular Countryman if you want a genuine Mini adventure.
