Top Gear China

Well, we’re assuming Top Gear China has launched. Or at least they’ve had a crack with a pilot episode, fifteen minutes of which you can see in the video below.

We’re struggling to work out the banter, but we think we’ve got figured a chunk of the content.

The main feature seems to be a head-to-head between the Cadillac SLS and a Donkey and cart to see which is the best at milling. A Grain Grind-Off.

There’s the de rigeur performance car to be blatted around – in this case the BMW M3 Tiger Edition – by one of the three presenters, and Chinese Stig (who seems to be called ‘Stig’ even in Chinese) gets to take the M3 round the Top Gear track.

There’s also a Star in a reasonably priced car segment with – we think - Bruce Law, a stuntman with credits such as Mission Impossible III and The Mummy. He appears top be driving an FAW. But we’re not certain.

As for the banter – and which presenter could best be described as the Chinese May, Hammond or Clarkson – we have no Chinese here so we’re stuffed. But if you have, do let us know what’s going on – and if it’s amusing.

We’ve asked the Beeb if this is legit and if they’ve licensed a Chinese TV company to make Top Gear China. So far we’ve not heard back. When we do, we’ll update here.

Enjoy Top Gear China.
