Jeremy Clarkson's bachelor pad Motorhome on a Citroen CX

Top Gear may turn up on our screens for just half a dozen episodes at a time. But those one hour episodes take a big chunk of the rest of the year filming, so with Top Gear off air at the moment the boys are out playing.

A few weeks back they managed to cause the volcanic eruption in Iceland with May trying to rush the volcano in a Hilux with water-cooled tyres, and now the boys have been spotted in the UK with the results of their ‘Build a Motorhome’ challenge.

It would seem that Jeremy has built a proper bachelor pad on the top of a Citroen CX (all the better for a smooth ride – whatever that means), the Hamster has predictably grafted a country cottage on to the back of a Land Rover (country boy at heart) and May has gone counter to his Captain Slow tag by sticking a tent on the back of a Lotus Excel.

Our spies haven’t told us exactly what all the challenges are, but a re-creation of the Motorhome racing from a few series ago must be on the cards. You can also expect them to conjure up a gourmet dinner from their motorhomes – one course each – using only ingredients bought at the petrol station, and if the picture at the top is anything to go by they ended up in trouble at the seaside too.

We also managed to find a video taken by some rather over-excited parents who came across the TG Motorhome convoy in full flow. This is the modern equivalent of ‘Dad Dancing’ as a way to embarrass your offspring, with ‘Oscar’ cringing in the back seat as dad almost wets himself with excitement.

Enjoy.
