Top Gear take the Bentley Continental GT Speed Rallying

Sun, 23 Sep 2012

Top Gear has been on the 2012 WRC Wales Rally with a Bentley Continental GT Speed driven by Kris Meeke with James May as co-driver.

We know that Top Gear won’t be back on our screens – at least not with a new series – until 2013, because Jeremy Clarkson told us.

But that doesn’t mean Messrs Clarkson, Hammond and May are twiddling their thumbs waiting for the new series to start. Well, they may be, but they’re also out and about filming new pieces for the next series.

One of these appears to be a feature on the new Bentley Continental GT Speed taking to the rally world with a run in the 2012 WRC Wales Rally in the hands of Kris Meeke, with James May bumbling instructions to the rally ace.

It seems the Meeke/May collaboration with Bentley’s 4WD Continental GT was extensively filmed from a helicopter, so it seems likely it will feature in the next Top Gear.

And actually, despite its £150k price tag, the Bentley Continental GT Speed could make an impressive rally car with its 4WD setup and ample amounts of torque.

What we’re really hoping is that Top Gear has managed to take not just the Continental GT Speed rallying, but also managed to get their hands on the new 4WD Ferrari FF to do a comparison on the mud and ruts of Wales.

Now that would get our attention.
