Toyota at Geneva: Toyota RAV4 2010/2011

Toyota has revealed a mildly facelifted 2010 RAV4 at Geneva

A couple of weeks ago we reported that Toyota had told us the RAV4 for 2010 was going to get something of a nip and tuck. Nothing much mind you, just a slight shaping of the ageing jowls and possibly some refinements to the interior trim. Also on the cards was a bit of eco-work to make the RAV4 a bit more friendly to fluffy bunnies.

Mild though we expected the 2010 facelift for the RAV4 to be, it’s even less than we thought. The nose does get a bit of surgery with a new, wider grill and some new headlights. We’d call it a new grill and lights, Toyota call it “…an all-new front-end treatment that not only looks good, but is also more aerodynamically efficient.” Actually, to be completely fair, the bonnet is slightly reshaped as is the bumper. And you do have to sell yourself.

Inside the 2010 Toyota RAV4 gets some added goodness with a dose of leather and Alcantara. As for the oily bits, it seems nothing changes. Carried forward are Toyota Optimal Drive powertrains, with 2.0-litre Valvematic petrol and 2.2 D-4D and D-CAT diesel engines. There’s a choice of 6 speed manual ‘box, CVT or 6-speed auto. Don’t Toyota know they could be killing the planet by not changing the engines? How will the fluffy bunnies survive?

The 2010 RAV4 goes on sale in the Spring. Which is in three weeks time. Toyota say they’ll let us have model details and prices for the UK nearer the time.

Can’t be long then.
