VW Golf GTI Cabriolet - costs £29k and now up for grabs

Following a reveal at the Geneva Motor Show, VW has revealed prices and specs for the Golf GTI Cabriolet. Starts at £29,310.

We may be getting towards the end of the shelf life of the current VW Golf, but that didn’t stopped Volkswagen revealing a range topping Golf drop top in the guise of the Golf GTI Cabriolet at the Geneva Motor Show in March.

Mind you, VW has form for continuing to build old model convertible Golfs long after the main range has been refreshed, so there’s every chance the GTI Cabrio will have a longer shelf life than it might first seem.

In every sense that matters - apart from a little bit of extra shake - the GTI Cabriolet is just a roofless GTI. There’s checked upholstery and honeycomb grill, GTI bumpers and diffuser and a set of 17″ Monza alloys.

Under the bonnet lies the same 2.0 litre turbo four-pot with 207bhp and a 0-62mph of 7.3 seconds. Combined economy lists at 37.2 mpg which gives official CO2 emissions of 177g/gm (which increase to 36.7mpg and 180g/km if you opt for the DSG ‘box).

You can now order the Golf GTI Cabrio at £29,310 for the manual version or £30,610 if you want the DSG ‘box. First deliveries will be in July, so if it ever stops raining you will still have a bit of summer left in which to play.
