Wed, 27 Jun 2012

Giles Taylor has been appointed Rolls-Royce Motor Cars design director, with effect from 1 July 2012. He previously held the position of head of exterior design.

Taylor will report directly to senior vice president BMW Group design, Adrian van Hooydonk and will replace Ian Cameron who retires from his position to become a brand ambassador until his retirement in April 2013.

"Giles Taylor brings with him exceptional design skills and a comprehensive understanding of British values and heritage that are so crucial to Rolls-Royce," said van Hooydonk. "I have no doubt that he will successfully continue to develop the outstanding design ethos so successfully created by Ian Cameron and his team."

Taylor, a 44-year-old Brit graduated from Coventry University in 1990 and the Royal College of Art in 1992. He then joined PSA Peugeot Citroën as an exterior designer, before heading back to the UK to become a chief designer at Jaguar in 1997. He joined Rolls-Royce last year.
