Williams F1 wins Chelsea Flower Show Gold

A Topiary display created by Kings & Co from Rayne in Essex of a life-sized Williams F1 car wins gold at Chelsea.

Many would think that the high spot for Williams F1 in recent years was the win at Barcelona by Pastor Maldonado two weeks ago. But they’d be wrong.

The pinnace of Frank William’s career is undoubtedly the gold medal at the Chelsea Flower Show this week for a topiary display featuring a life-sized Williams F1 car and pit crew.

The display – created by King and Co from Rayne in Essex – featured a life-size topiary of the F1 car and crew – which took three years to grow – and included not just the car and pit crew but had a backdrop of the Williams F1 story and artefacts like a helmet, steering wheel and bodywork to add authenticity.

Sir Frank Williams commented:

Winning the gold medal is a fantastic achievement and I would like to thank King and Co for their hard work in constructing such a unique and memorable display. I saw it for the first time yesterday and was taken aback by its scale and attention to detail. The Chelsea Flower Show is a uniquely British occasion and to be successful at this illustrious event is a great honour. I hope the public enjoy the display as much as the judges.

Fingers crossed Williams will be as successful this weekend in Monaco.
