Yorkshire composer makes music from car sounds

Car Sounds Music by Mark Marrington

Yorkshire composer Mark Marrington has created ‘Dance Music with a vehicular Twist’ in a composition using car sounds.

Making ‘music’ from car sounds is nothing new. If you’re a Top Gear fan you’ll remember music maestro James May doing something similar with TG’s theme tune Jessica to some derision, and the boys clicked and shut a trio of BL’s best to the tune of Pink Floyd’s ‘Money’.

Even TV watchers can’t have failed to notice that We Buy Any Car thump out their advert for swallowing up your pride and joy when you’re brassic to the sound of car horns and doors and whatever car sounds they can find.

And now we’ve had a press release in to tell us a Yorkshire composer – Mark Marrington – has got in on the act with a composition of car sounds he claims to be  ’Dance Music with a vehicular Twist’, which he says ‘reflects our ongoing desire to tame our nature and organize it in a way which renders impotent its capacity to disturb us’.

Sorry, Mark, but to our ears it’s as irritating as the EBAC advert and not a patch on what Top Gear managed to do sat in a trio of old cars.

But then we’re probably too old for ‘Dance’. And TG did have the BBC’s expertise to make it sound good.
