New Bentley SUV teased

Wed, 19 Mar 2014

The new design for the Bentley SUV teased There’s little doubt Bentley will make a success of its SUV, despite the original EXP 9 F Concept getting far more brickbats than plaudits. So Bentley have been back at their drawing boards making the Bentley SUV (which could be the Bentley Falcon) look more like a Bentley, and the tease is now beginning for its arrival in Bentley showrooms in early 2016 with a single photo (above). As expected, Bentley has replaced the blunt Mulsanne-like front end of their SUV with a nose that looks like its been taken from the Flying Spur, and no doubt added a few more curves on the bits we don’t see in the tease photo.

Ford invents agile, low-cost solution for prototyping, customization and limited production [w/video]

Wed, 03 Jul 2013

A new metal forming technique pioneered by Ford that drastically reduces the time and cost of producing low-volume and one-off body parts may lead to cost-effective customization, redesigns, one-offs and limited production runs. Ford Freeform Fabrication Technology (F3T) forms sheets of metal by two stylus-like tools, one on each side of the surface. Using CAD data they form the part to the exacting strength and finish tolerances usually associated with stamping dies.

Webinars: RTT Realtime Design & Engineering Reviews

Wed, 06 Apr 2011

Car Design News hosted Realtime Design & Engineering Reviews Using High-End 3D Visualizations with RTT on April 6, 2011. This particular webinar explored how Virtual Reality is becoming increasingly important in the product development process. Thanks to new visualization and simulation, technologies are minimizing dependence on physical prototypes, which in turn create massive cost and time savings.
