Jaguar Land Rover aiming to double sales

Sat, 22 Jun 2013

Jaguar Land Rover plan to double sales We’ve got so used to reporting ever increasing sales for Jaguar and Land Rover that it comes as no big surprise that JLR are planning to double car sales by 2020. A few years ago such a figure would have been risible, but since Tata took the helm from Ford in 2008 the focus at JLR on creating a world beating brand and product has been unshakable. (adsbygoogle=window.adsbygoogle||[]).push({});Tata got off to a good start with the Jaguar XF replacing the S-Type, and the new Jaguar XJ showing just how good a big luxury car can be to drive.

2012 Mercedes GLK Facelift – but still no GLK for the UK

Thu, 22 Mar 2012

2012 Mercedes GLK Facelift - but not for the UK (adsbygoogle=window.adsbygoogle||[]).push({});A facelift for 2012 on the Mercedes GLK SUV is due to debut at the New York Auto Show in April, but the UK still won’t get the GLK. Mercedes’ answer to cars like the BMW X3 and Audi Q5 – the Mercedes GLK – is to get a facelift for 2012 and some tweaks to the oily bits for 2012, but Mercedes still don’t think it worth their while building a RHD version for the UK. In fact, despite expectations that Mercedes would at least deliver a RWD version of the GLK to RHD markets it now seems that won’t happen until the all new GLK arrives in a few years time.

BMW i3 EV: More than 8,000 ordered already

Tue, 15 Oct 2013

The BMW i3 EV already has 8k orders BMW has invested heavily in their new ‘i’ range of electric cars – as much as £2 billion it’s estimated – with the ‘i’ cars being developed from scratch rather than based on an existing BMW model. (adsbygoogle=window.adsbygoogle||[]).push({});The first BMW i to be launched is the compact city car BMW i3, revealed in production form in July, which costs from around £30k for the regular EV and an extra 10 per cent for the i3 with a range extender engine. Despite being revealed in July BMW has not yet officially put the i3 on sale, but that hasn’t stopped potential buyers lining up to palce a reservation, with more than 8,000 already signed-up for an i3.
