Report: Britain averaged over 50mpg in 2013

Land Rover According to the latest figures from industry body the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), Britain averaged OVER 50mpg last year. The institution analysed efficiency figures for all new cars sold in the UK in 2013, working out the average CO2 emissions from the 2.26 million cars sold in Britain last year and coming up with a figure of 128.3g/km. The new McLaren P1 is shod with custom-made Pirelli P Zero Corsa Tyres specially developed to meet the challenges of a 903bhp supercar. Ron Dennis has already told us that he has driven the P1 round the Top Gear test track at Dunsfold a full 10 seconds quicker than the Pagani Huayra went round, so we know the P1 has huge abilities on tap. But what’s also interesting is that Ron did his Top Gear lap on the P1′s road tyres, specially developed for McLaren by Pirelli, and not on hand-cut slicks like the Pagani Huayra.

Is this the new Lamborghini SUV? The new car rumour mill has gone in to overdrive on Lamborghini, with claims of two new models at Geneva and a Lamborghini SUV at Beijing. Lamborghini is on record as stating that it will be bringing a new model to each new motor show in the next two years, which is some claim for a car maker with just two models in its range.
