Car Design News Contest 2008 Winners

It's been five months since the Car Design News Contest 2008 brief was first announced. And now, the last of our nine esteemed judges have completed their assessment of the 20 finalists. We are pleased to announce the winners in the professional and student designer categories, respectively: Jay Wen from New Zealand and Seyyed Javad Ghaffarian from Iran.

General Motor's Buick brand is blossoming in China, so the automaker chose the largest Chinese Auto Show this year to unveil its latest concept: the Invicta. Unlike the Riviera concept shown in Shanghai last year, the Invicta is slated for production soon given the level of refinement we saw when we viewed the car in Beijing. And unlike some market-specific new cars unveiled at the show, the Invicta will make its way to other markets across the globe. Inspired by Tim Birkin – one of the fabled Bentley Boys – the Birkin Mulsanne comes with a number of cosmetic tweaks, extra equipment as standard and a set ofd bespoke luggage to make it stand out from the ‘regular’ Mulsanne. The extra equipment includes Mulliner Driving Specification which adds in a ‘Sport’ setting as well as the traditional quilted upholstery, leather headlining and knurled detailing on the interior metalwork.
