This is a nicely remanufactured T85 3 speed manual transmission with an R11 overdrive.  10-16 spline, new brass, bearings and T locks!  Tail is R11-1E, and the case is T850-1A.  The tail # indicates that this unit is for a 1957 T Bird.  Solenoid and governor are rebuilt as well. Outright buy it now price is $2175.00, $400 can be refunded if you send in your core transmission, plus $45.00 for the governor and $60.00 for the solenoid cores.  The solenoid and governor can be removed for a savings of $275.00 if you don't need them, as they are included in the sale of this transmission.  Email or call if you have questions about this item.

1924 Le Mans-winning Bentley to go on show

A 90-YEAR-OLD Le Mans-winning Bentley is to go on display in Paris next week as part of the prestigious Rétromobile exhibition. The car, which won the 1924 Le Mans race with John Duff and Frank Clement behind the wheel, is to be Bentley’s headline act at this year’s show. It was picked as a celebration of the rejuvenation of Bentley’s racing programme, with the Continental GT3 racer this year competing in races at Silverstone in Northamptonshire, Italy’s famous Monza and the cutting edge Paul Ricard circuit in southern France.

We have video of the fastest MINI ever – the MINI John Cooper Works GP II – lapping the Nurburgring in 8:23. We revealed back in April that a new version of the MINI JCW GP was on the way, and MINI got round to confirming that in May when the new MINI John Cooper Works GP was officially revealed. At the time, MINI told us that the new MINI GP could hustle round the Nurburgring a full 19 seconds quicker than the old MINI GP making the new hot MINI the fastest MINI ever made (well, the fastest MINI ever made by BMW, anyway).

If you think that every little nut, bolt, switch, gear or widget in your new car wasn't scrutinized by a team of highly educated, overworked car geeks (read: engineers), think again. A couple of recent conversations with automotive engineers confirmed that virtually nothing that goes into a car today is taken for granted. During the recent Pebble Beach weekend, I had the pleasure of spending time with an engineer for Jaguar, and the subject turned to materials used for various switches in the cabin.
