CAR tech: building the world's fastest EV
Mon, 07 Oct 2013By Jesse Crosse Motor Industry 07 October 2013 09:00 What if you could toss all the qualms about electric cars out the window and build one that doesn’t care one iota about range nor looking like a conservative marshmallow designed by styling clinics? Jaguar F-Type Coupe caught on video at Nurburgring
Wed, 03 Jul 2013The Jaguar F-Type Coupe (pictured) testing at the Nurburgring The new Jaguar F-Type is a fine looking car, but the F-Type Coupe looks set to be the real looker, and we shouldn’t have to wait too long before the coupe hits a motor show (probably Frankfurt in September). Reproducing reality – X-Rite’s Total Appearance Capture
Tue, 26 Feb 2013Total Appearance Capture isn't some sinister new form of identity theft but a revolutionary method of digitizing physical models using a new scanning technology, with the ability to capture extraordinary detail and all input and output light. The system, from coatings color measurement experts X-Rite, combines color, texture, gloss and other surface characteristics into a digital material ‘description' that can be imported directly to computer-aided design programs. What sets it apart from previously available methods is its ability to collect information on complex materials such as textiles, leather, basketwork, stone, coatings and plated finishes, in a 3D scene lit by a virtual studio environment.
