saddleBag Shapers were designed by humans, enhanced by computer and are electronically machine cut to exacting detail. Our design and manufacturing company has over 65 years experience in working with various plastics including High Density Polyethylene (HDPE), Acrylonitrile Butyl Styrene (ABS) and Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) and other plastics. 

saddleBag Shaper’s Heritage Classic (FLSTC) inserts are designed to lock into position when installed and provide support and cannot move or wilt as stated by our competitor. Because of the way our inserts lock, a side rail is not needed. 

saddleBag Shaper inserts and lid liners have the haircell texture, which gives a leather look appearance while resisting marring and scratching versus the smooth surfaces of PVC.

Components of the Heritage Classic Insert Kit:

Each kit comes complete with two saddlebag inserts (one for each bag) and two lid liners (one for each bag), a container of glue and a set of instructions.

saddleBag Shapers' bottom inserts continue to be manufactured from HDPE after we made a change from ABS to HDPE in 2007. Through continuing research and in conjunction with our material suppliers and their multi-billion dollar raw materials manufacturers we are in unanimous agreement that HDPE is the optimum material for the design, installation and continued life.

Why we manufacture saddleBag Shaper Inserts from HDPE?

1) * High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) is more structurally compatible for the flexing required for installation  and any potential impact.  As high density implies, it is more dense or harder than other polyethylene materials such as Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE), which is softer. 

2) * HDPE has lower and higher temperature working range than ABS. PVC has a lesser working range of the three. HDPE is more easily installed, prevents cracking or breaking and wilting in cold and hot temperatures.  PVC is actually stiffer and more brittle than ABS which makes it the most difficult to install and more susceptible to breaking.

3) * Environmental Issues:

Of all plastics, polyvinyl chloride (PVC) is considered the worst for our environment.  As stated at PVCInformationl.org, “What buyers may not be aware of is that no other plastic poses such direct environmental and health risks as PVC”.   HDPE is one of the most environmentally friendly plastics and is 100% recyclable.

** Note:  the concept of strength is much more complex than stiffness. 

saddleBag Shaper Heritage Classic Lid Liners:

We continue to be the only company that manufacturers lid liners made with .1875 or 3/16 inch ABS versus competitive products made from .1250 or 2/16 inch material. 

Why ABS for the lids? 

Because the lid liners are flat and never need to bend or flex.  The extra thickness provides the necessary support.
