What is a bypass module?

An immobilizer interface module (bypass module) is used when installing a remote starter in vehicles equipped with an RF (Radio Frequency) based immobilizer system. This type of system uses a small chip imbedded in the ignition key or key fob on push to start vehicles, which is used to transmit a very low powered RF signal. The vehicle must see this RF signal in order to allow the car to start. The bypass module learns this RF Frequency and allows the car to start when the remote car starter is initiated.

All car starters require a bypass module for modern (most 1999+) vehicles. Bypass Modules are vehicle specific so getting the correct bypass module for your vehicle is important.  If your vehicle is listed in the compatibility section of this listing, the module we are bundling with this starter is compatible with your vehicle.

What is a Vehicle Specific Tech Sheet and how do I receive it?

A vehicle specific tech sheet is a list of wires in your vehicle, which are relevant to your car starter installation. The sheet will tell you the wire color, polarity and wire location.  In some cases, a photo is included of the wire harness and its location. To receive this tech sheet, please eBay message us after your purchase and we will send you a link to the sheet.
