The wearable part of the tie rod consists of a small ball joint in a socket housing. A tapered stud on the other end of the ball fits into a tapered hole in a connecting link, which is secured with a nut. A dust cover fits over the stud and ball and socket to keep grease in the socket and dirt and dust out. Check tie rods for wear in the socket by attempting to move the tie rod in and out and up and down. If there is any play in the socket the tie rod must be replaced. Also check for play in the sleeve and play where the stud attaches.

If you want to make your Jeep steering perfect again, get the tie rods that are designed and manufactured specifically for your Jeep, from the Jeep experts at Omix-Ada. These tie rods are made for the application so they'll fit with no modifications needed, and they'll bring back that OEM steering quality. Omix-Ada is so confident in the quality of these tie rods that they're backed by a 5-year limited warranty.
