This is a new, never installed  PMD, or pump mounted driver that controls your injection pump on a 6.5L diesel Chevrolet or GMC application. This part is new on the market, completely redesigned to overcome some of the failures that GM had in it's early PMD/FSD models. It will also work on the military and Hummer applications equipped with the electronic injection system. This is an improved version of the latest part issued by General motors and comes with the pad and screws to install it to the pump.If you truck is stalling or hard to start, dies and then starts back up, this will most likely solve your problem.

I see some "genuine" Stanadyne PMD's listed on E-bay for a lot less...why is that?

GM has quit using Stanadyne as the supplier of these PMD's, due in part to the failures. After D-tech came out with an improved model, GM quickly quit using the Stanadyne models. These older Stanadyne model PMD are no longer supplied by GM, and are therefore obsoleted. They are making their way to the aftermarket and E-bay where they are sold for a fraction of their original purchase price. Ask yourself, if the 50.00 I am going to save worth not having a warranty on the item that I purchase? Most informed consumers would rather pay the slightly higher price to get the best possible product and warranty on the market today. We warranty our PMD's for a full year, because we know they are the best on the market today.

WHAT MAKES THIS PART BETTER?

You will notice this part is physically different than the original part. The thicker material allow for more stable operation and allows the PMD to handle more heat transferance. This PMD is new in the market and had been field tested and has proven to handle the most rugged conditions.

WILL IT FIT IN THE SAME LOCATION WITHOUT MODIFICATIONS?

Yes, this will fit in place of the original part without any modifications.

CAN I USE THIS WITH A CHILLER / COOLER PLATE?

Although it is not needed, some may want to do this, which will work fine.

DTech Pump Mounted Driver (PMD) Passes General Motors Testing

With the recent introduction of the new DTech PMD, Stanadyne, builders of the original PMD, has begun a campaign saying the PMDs did not meet GM specifications. With the concurrence and assistance of General Motors, the DTech PMD recently underwent product validation testing. Six DTech PMDs and six Stanadyne PMDs were tested against GM specification GMW3172 and all DTech PMDs passed.

Background

The DTech PMD, as designed and built by Flight Systems Electronic Group, has completed product validation testing and the results have been submitted to the General Motors Parts Organization. The specific tests selected from GM specification GMW3172 were decided upon after consultations between GM and FSEG. It was decided to do an A vs. B test of six FSEG and six Stanadyne PMDs. The PMDs would be subjected to various thermal shock and vibration tests at a qualified laboratory. The tests are designed to simulate the temperature and vibration environments a PMD would be subject to over 100,000 miles of use. It was decided that after the modules were subjected to these schedules, testing would be performed at FSEG to verify functionality. The testing at FSEG consisted of vehicle test, functional test and pump mounted test stand operational tests.

Results

All DTech PMDs and Stanadyne PMDs passed the temperature and vibration testing. The 12 PMDs were then subject to six different electronic function tests. All DTech PMDs passed the tests as well as the Stanadyne PMDs. Then, all PMDs were tested using a Hartridge AVM2-PC test stand and Stanadyne “Blue Box” tester. All DTech and Stanadyne PMDs passed the OEM specified tests. Finally, on-vehicle testing was performed on all PMDs. Again, all of the DTech and Stanadyne PMDs passed the tests with no engine starting/running problems and no fault codes were set.

Conclusion

The DTech PMDs, when tested against General Motors test specifications, have now been proven to be equivalent to the Stanadyne PMD and have passed the GM tests. The final results have been submitted to GMSPO for their action. When you take into consideration the additional design advantages and value of the DTech PMD, the decision to use DTech PMDs and DTech remanufactured DS pumps becomes even easier. Remember, now you do have a choice. DTech Products!

If your purchase fails to correct your problem, we will give you full credit against the purchase of a rebuilt injection pump. This way, you don't have to worry if this is going to fix your problem or not.
