The approach to the design of top end models varies greatly depending on the manufacturer's heritage and the cultural differences of each country. It might be a conventional combination of wood and leather for some, power and technology for others, but it is generally packaged into a three-box four-door sedan or two-door fastback. Hyundai is showing off the new i30 hatchback at the 2011 Frankfurt motor show. It's the first of the Hyundai-Kia twins - the new Kia Ceed lands in spring 2012. The i30 is Hyundai's C-segment Focus rival, and its replacement marks the start of a challenging new era for Hyundai; the i30 was the first car to wear the 'i' prefix, and its subsequent replacement means the company has come full circle.

Michelin has announced the 15 finalists of the 2014 Michelin Challenge Design, themed ‘Driven/Undriven: The Duality of Tomorrow's Automobile'. Their work will be showcased in January at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit. A judging panel of automotive designers and industry experts selected individuals and teams from Italy, China, South Korea, Finland, Serbia, Canada, Brazil, Mexico and Guatemala from over 900 registrants from 74 countries.
