Toyota's Lentz to say electronics not to blame for acceleration problems

Tue, 23 Feb 2010

Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A. President James Lentz plans to stick to his guns and tell skeptical lawmakers Tuesday that the company's unwanted acceleration problems do not stem from electronic defects, a copy of his testimony shows. 2014 Range Rover Sport dynamic debut at Goodwood Festival of Speed

Thu, 04 Jul 2013

At least not in the UK. The new RRS has been seen strutting its on-road prowess at the Pikes Peak hillcimb in the States, but next weekend visitors to the Goodwood Festival of Speed will get to see the new Sport as it tackles the hillclimb to demonstrate that it has not just shiny off-road credentials, but impressive on-road ones too.

Listen: Upcoming Ford Focus ST to employ sound symposer

Mon, 14 May 2012

While BMW employs a digitally sanitized/perfected sound file to give M5 owners the proper sense of aggro urgency when motoring at pace, Porsche went a little more organic with its employment of a sound symposer to feed the 911's flat-six growl into the cabin of the extra-refined 991. Essentially, the sound symposer is an electrically controlled diaphragm in a tuned sound tube that brings the proper engine noises into the passenger compartment. It can be opened and closed by the car's onboard electronics to offer snarl when you want it and serenity when you don't.
