Please read instructions before using.
In certain circumstances engine builders must use a sealer on the bolt threads because the bolts protrude through the water jackets of the cylinder block.  We have found that these substances can act as lubricants and grossly affect the torque-tension values during installation.  In some cases these substances can cause the bolt to experience tensile loads up to or over 18,500 lbs even though the torque wrench shows only 70 foot lbs.
All EngineQuest bolts are furnished with a phosphate and oil finish and NO additional lubrication is required.  However, if sealants are needed, we caution that engine builders to use extreme care in order to avoid inadvertently over-torqueing of the bolts.   Specifically, we recommend lowering the torque value to 55-60 foot lbs. when using a sealant.
CAUTION:  Must check thread engagement when installing on aftermarket cylinder heads.  A minimum of .500” of thread engagement is required.  When used in Big Block Chevrolet Bowtie blocks you must bottom tap all threaded bolt holes.

Tomorrow’s world: future petrol engine tech news

Mon, 28 Sep 2009

By Tim Pollard Motor Industry 28 September 2009 14:15 Petrol engines are changing dramatically. You’ll have heard of the phrase 'downsizing' and most major manufacturers are shrinking their regular gasoline engines to trim emissions and fuel consumption – while employing new tech to keep up the horsepower and torque outputs. This is the holy grail for engineers: maintain the power and performance of the existing big capacity engines we’ve become wedded to, but in a smaller, more economical package.

Hyundai Veloster RE:FLEX hits Chicago Auto Show

Fri, 07 Feb 2014

We hope Simon LeBon's mysterious “treasure in the dark” wasn't a turbocharger. If the Duran Duran frontman deigns to pick up a Hyundai Veloster RE:FLEX, he won't be getting one. The RE:FLEX package, announced at the Chicago Auto Show adds chrome 18” wheels, extra brightwork on the door handles and hood, a passel of LEDs, a pair of light-up doorsills and the standard 138-hp, 1.6L engine.

EBay exotic: Pristine GMC Motorhome

Thu, 10 May 2012

This eBay listing for a 1976 GMC Motorhome started making the rounds on Twitter on Wednesday. These Oldsmobile-powered, front-wheel-drive land yachts are among the only truly beloved vintage motor homes. While other highway dinosaurs succumb to leaky windows and mounting repair bills before spending decades rotting next to garages and barns, a good many of these old GMCs have been maintained in good working order or restored.
