2012 BMW 3 Series Video Friday was all about the reveal of the new 2012 BMW 3 Series. And we managed to get a big new 3 Series photo gallery up (the most popular page this month already on Cars UK – which tells you how popular the 3 Series is) and full UK prices too, so we thought we ought to update that lot with some video of the new 3 Series to make sure we’d covered all the bases. 2013 McLaren F1 – more details emerge

A render of the 2013 McLaren F1 / 799 (click for full size photo) It’s more than two years since we revealed that McLaren are planning on building a McLaren F1 road car for the 21st century. Planned to bring game-changing performance to the hypercar market, it will be McLaren’s halo car, sitting above the 458 Italia-bashing MP4-12C, and the yet-to-come McLaren which is aimed at the Porsche 911 and Audi R8. What exactly McLaren are planning with the new F1 – which may be called the McLaren 799 – is still hidden deep in the minds and computers of McLaren’s elite.

Volkswagen XL1 caught on video The Volkswagen XL1 – a super efficient diesel hybrid – caught on video winter testing and undisguised. The VW XL1 arrived at the Qatar Motor Show in 2011, a two-seater diesel-electric hybrid with a design that looks like it came from a 1920s view of the future, and claims of a gazillion miles to the gallon. At the time VW debuted the XL1 we reckoned there was as much chance of it going in to production as McLaren’s latest Formula One car making it in to a showroom, and that the XL1 was just a test bed for all the future tech that might just find its way in to Volkswagen’s road cars.
