GM Performance 383 CID Short Block Engine Assembly 12499106
Here is a great starting point to build your 383. These Chevrolet Performance short block engines include the cast iron 4-bolt main with one-piece main seal blocks, Forged 4340 steel externally balanced crankshafts, 5.7 in. powdered metal connecting rods, hypereutectic dished top pistons with offset pins. The extra displacement and unique parts are designed to build a wide flat torque curve that maintains at least 400lb ft. between 2500 and 4000 rpm. Typically these engines put out around 323 HP and 444lb ft. fully assembled which you just wont get out of a stock rebuild. Additional parts that are shipped with these are 8 in. harmonic balancer (degreed), 12 3/4 in. automatic transmission flexplate, 4 quart oil pan with windage tray, composite front timing cover, engine oil dipstick and tube for passenger side location, brass freeze plugs are already installed. These partial engines do not include camshafts, lifters, timing chains or cam sprockets. The oil pans are loosely assembled on the block, so they can be disassembled while preserving the pan gaskets. The only major items you will need to complete your build are cam, lifters, cylinder heads, and manifold.
