BAC Mono wins Supercar Class at Cholmondeley

The BAC Mono has won the Supercar Class at the 2012 Cholmondeley Pageant of Power, just a year from the Mono’s launch and in its first competitive event. The cynical might have imagined that the debut of the BAC Mono as yet another racer for the road from a  company most have never heard of would be another two minute wonder – loads of promise and little reality. Art Center and Clemson University students unveil Mazda Deep Orange 3 concept

Art Center College of Design and Clemson University students joined forces to design and develop a next-generation Mazda concept, the Deep Orange 3. The Deep Orange 3, which features a body designed by Art Center student Frederick Naaman, has been unveiled at the Center for Automotive Research Management's Briefing Seminars in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The project started with market research focusing on what kind of car Generation Y would want to drive, with the results showing that the majority wanted five or more seats.

Infiniti recalls Q50 sedans over steer-by-wire system

Infiniti is recalling a number of its new 2014 Q50 sedans over a fault in its steer-by-wire system. The recall concerns Q50 sedans equipped with Direct Adaptive Steering that have received a software version which may disable the power steering software when the engine compartment reaches freezing temperatures. There's a mechanical backup system to prevent steering failure that kicks in via a clutch if the Direct Adaptive Steering were to fail, but the NHTSA notes that this backup may not engage in time if the Direct Adaptive Steering fails, increasing the chance of a crash.
