Box Stock Project engine block align-bored to .010 for stock class race applications. Block has been align-bored using the patented E-Z Bore system, exclusively designed for performance kart racing engines.

Explanation for the need to Align-Bore an Engine: 

Production kart engines are mass produced, the block and side cover are not machined as a matching set. Due to this separate machining operation when the cover and block are match together the cylinder bore is not necessary 90 degree’s to the crankshaft creating excessive drag. This miss alignment varies from engine to engine and maybe the root cause for engines that seem to underperform, compared to exact duplicate engine that performs better.

 

All parts provided in this kit are from Box Stock Project:

  • Inspected and fitted for racing performance application. All machine worked performed with specialize tools and experienced machinist.  

Block:

  • Align-bored to 2.589 with the E-Z Bore System
  • Finished honed on a Sunnen Horizontal machine using 280 stones and finish with Flex-Hone for the final plateau finish.
  • Piston furnished has .003 piston cylinder wall clearance with finish bore. 

Rings:

  • Top ring has been filed and fitted to the finish bore
  • Middle and oil rings are low tension .010 set 

Piston to Beck Surface Height:

Has been inspected; block has been assembled with a standard length rod (2.360 length) and crankshaft with a 2.132 stroke (crankshaft is on the higher side of stock stroke to ensure there is no pop-up problems when assembled). Piston pop-up measures between  005 to .007 below deck surface – Please note these measurements will vary based on your crankshaft and connecting rod length.

  • (1) Crankcase Cover (Side cover)
  • (1) .010 Piston Assembled, with wrist pin and retaining clips
  • (1) File fitted top ring
  • (1 set) Low tension middle and oil rings
  • (2) Crankcase cover bolts
  • (2) Crankcase dowel pins

Audi has revealed the new S3 with a 296bhp 2.0 litre direct injection engine which will debut at the 2012 Paris Motor Show. The new Audi S3 – which will bow in at next week’s 2012 Paris Motor Sow – will join the new 5-door A3 Sportback on Audi’s stand at Paris and lay down a firm marker for Audi’s share of the market. The new S3 gets a new 2.0 litre direct injection engine - part of Audi’s EA888 engine range – to go with its new underpinning using the same MQB platform as the latest A3 range, making the new S3 both lighter and more powerful.
