McLaren P1 back at the Nurburgring in attack mode
Sat, 19 Oct 2013The McLaren P1 is back at the Nurburgring looking to set a new record It was brave of Ron Dennis to declare – before the McLaren P1 was anywhere close to finished – that the it would be able to lap the Nurburgring in under 7 minutes. He was obviously very confident his new baby was up to the task but, just like McLaren’s current Formula One car, the P1 seems to be just a bit off the pace. Last month we reported that it seemed the best the McLaren P1 could do at the Nurburgring was a 7:04s – a time McLaren didn’t make official – so we knew McLaren would be back with their laptops and engineers as soon as they’d figured a way to trim those last few seconds.
Ferrari 458 Speciale (2013) is it the ultimate V8 supercar?
Mon, 04 Nov 2013Is the new 597bhp Ferrari 458 Speciale set to be the ultimate V8 supercar? Ben Pulman headed to Ferrari's Maranello headquarters to see for himself... Ferrari's Formula One team might be struggling to put Alonso on the podium, but its road-car division keeps hitting new highs: the F12 is a masterpiece, its 950bhp LaFerrari is poised to eclipse the legendary Enzo, and now this new hardcore version of the 458 Italia will cause sleepless nights down the road in Sant’Agata where Lamborghini is readying its Gallardo replacement.
BMW 4 Series Coupe makes UK debut at PGA Championship
Mon, 27 May 2013We had our first look at the car that will replace the old 3-Series Coupe ahead of its debut at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show when the BMW 4 Series Coupe Concept arrived, looking like a winner even before it goes in to production. Even when you take away some of the fripperies of a concept, you’re still left with an impressive 4 series Coupe that’s longer and lower than the old 3 Series – and a lot better looking. In fact, the 4 Series looks a lot like a smaller 6 Series and is also likely to spawn a ‘Gran Coupe’ version at some point – just like the 6 Series – which could do very interesting things to sales of the regular 3 series saloon.
