Sat, 06 Feb 2010

BMW is sprucing up its X5 SUV with range of cosmetic updates and engineering tweaks. Read on for our handy guide to how to spot the new 2010 X5 and what is new under the metal. How will I tell the new 2010 X5 apart from the old one?The headlamps on the X5 are new, the foglights move, air vents swell like a panting athlete's nostrils and the front bumpers have more body colour and fins in matt aluminium trim.Out back, new rear lights have BMW's now-trademark LED lighting bars emphasising horizontal lines of the X5. A range of SUV-atypical 19in and 20in wheels provide a planted stance for Chelsea, if not China. What's new under the bonnet of the facelifted X5?Eight-speed ZF automatic boxes are now standard across the board; their spread across the BMW range is endemic, in the quest for lower CO2 and higher mpg.

Announced in Detroit at Fiat-Chrysler HQ, Alfa Romeo chief technology officer Harald Wester revealed the mantra for the brand includes pushing volumes up from 74,000 sales in 2013, to around 400,000 by 2018. Alfa Romeo is investing around €5bn in the project, the first fruits of which will be the new Giulia saloon, a 3-series rival that will go on sale in autumn 2015.Read our scoop of Alfa's strategy here That’s right.

BMW 5-Series Gran Turismo (GT) concept unveiled

Fri, 13 Feb 2009

The BMW 5-Series GT - Due to launch at Frankfurt in September [ad#ad-1] The Germans do love a niche or two. Audi seems to be trying to cover everything from a runaround to a supercar, and Mercedes has gone as far as to build an S-Class people carrier (the R-Class) and a super-luxo-barge (Maybach). But BMW play the game as well – the BMW X6 being a good case in point.
