Ann Arbor Sportscar is pleased to offer for your consideration a fully rebuilt engine head assembly for the Triumph Spitfire 1500 in-line 4-cylinder engine.  This head also has applications on 1975 – 1980 MG Midget with the 1500 engine.  This head was salvaged from a 1973 Triumph Spitfire 1500.  The head is stamped number 218139.  The engine head was recently serviced and rebuilt by a local reputable engine machine shop.  It was thoroughly degreased, hot-tanked and then magnafuxed for integrity and no cracks or other issues were indicated.  Both the intake and exhaust valves, as well as all the valve guides, were replaced with brand new valves and valve guides, with parts sourced from Moss Motors.  More modern valve guide seals were installed.  Additionally, hardened valve seats were installed for the four exhaust valves to make this head suitable for burning modern no-lead gasoline.  Finally, the head was resurfaced with a fresh cut.  Lastly, the rebuilt head was finished in cast iron grey engine primer to protect it from flash-rusting.  It is ready for final paint by the buyer and installation in time for this year's driving season.  We will offer a conditional 30-day warranty from the time the buyer receives the head.  Please look carefully at all 12 photos.

The double-boxed shipping weight is over 42 pounds.  You are welcome to pick this head up at our shop location in Ann Arbor, Michigan, if you prefer to save the shipping costs.  We will ship internationally, please email us for a shipping cost quotation to your specific destination.  You can call or text us at 734-263-3070 for more details.

Peugeot RCZ revealed

Mon, 17 Aug 2009

Peugeot has finally released details of the Peugeot RCZ, which will launch at Frankfurt Despite our previous criticisms that the Peugeot RCZ looked like a clone of the old Audi TT, we think it’s a great looking car. It’s a real statement of intent to push Peugeot more towards the ‘Sporty’ and leave Citroen to do the ‘Luxury’. And it looks set to cost less than £20k (as a starting point) when it finally goes on sale next Spring after an official reveal at Frankfurt next month.

Now the Germans say no to Volvo

Sat, 03 Jan 2009

As we’ve reported in the last few weeks, Ford has been trying its best to offload Volvo, the last of its ‘Prestige’ Euro marques. The Chinese looked to be the best bet, but it seems that that is going nowhere at the moment (the Chinese are probably waiting for Ford to get in to an even deeper mess with the hope of picking up Volvo for peanuts) and now its seems that Ford’s fire-sale has drawn more blanks. Now the Germans turn down the chance to own Volvo Der Spiegel reports that Daimler (Mercedes-Benz) boss Dieter Zetsche has revealed that Daimler has turned down the chance to buy Volvo, and has also revealed that BMW has had a good look, and reached the same decision.
