EU new car CO2 targets pushed back

The European Union’s plans to cap new cars to 95g/km CO2 by 2020 has been delayed, after months of lobbying led by Germany. Instead, the 95g/km target will be introduced a year later in 2021, but with an additional amount of flexibility intended to make the transition easier – especially for luxury carmakers such as BMW and Mercedes-Benz, which generally build bigger, heavier vehicles. UPDATE: Jack Roush, injured in plane crash, transferred to Mayo Clinic

Jack Roush was transferred on Wednesday evening to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., to receive treatment for facial injures sustained in a plane crash, his company said. Roush, 68, is co-owner of Roush-Fenway Racing and chairman of Roush Enterprises, a supplier most famous for customizing Ford Mustangs. He crashed his plane during landing on Tuesday at an airport in Oshkosh, Wis.

Volkswagen prices limited-edition Beetle GSR

Volkswagen is bringing back the yellow-and-black Beetle GSR for 2014, more than 40 years after the “Yellow Black Racer” (Gelb Schwarzer Renner) debuted for the first time. That car had around 50 hp; the new one will eclipse that by just a little bit. On sale today, the Beetle GSR will use VW's turbocharged 2.0-liter TSI engine making 210 hp and 207 lb-ft of torque.
