Up for Sale is an Exchange for a Restored unit of a Transistorized Ignition Amplifier, correct for Corvettes (and other GM models including Chevelle, Nova, Camaro, Impala, Biscayne, GTO, Pontiac, etc. & Marine) 1964 through 1971 models optioned with K66 Transistorized Ignition.

The K-66 ignition was a big part of GM's racing success in the mid 60's & 70's, and work great on all high performance optioned GM cars.  These are original OEM units (part #1115005, #1115343, #1115007 & perhaps other P/Ns).

You can pick THREE options:
1)  1st Design #1115005:  plug-in connector at housing, has backing plate that cups over the sides of the housing & "poured-in" gasket.  Used 64-February 67 (design blueprint date change).
2)  2nd Design #1115005:  plug-in connector at housing (used until February 1968-design blueprint date), has flat backing plate & full rubber gasket, which were used 2/67-71.
3)  #1115343:  has "pigtail" extension w/connector about 26" long.  Used 2/68-71.
4)
#11115007 65-66 GTO (64 GTO used the #11115005)

The above units will have original boards, that have been electronically rebuilt and up-graded Silicon Transistors (impervious to heat & vibration that kills the OEM germanium transistors) equivalent replacement electronics and meticulously restored cosmetically to "original" and are now in Show Condition ($300 + exchange of a like model P/N & type connector & like type backing plate).  If you need a different P/N than your core= add $50.  If you need a different backing plate than your core has= add $50.

UPGRADE:  If you prefer the latest Delco licensed reproduction module (with modern electronics) installed in any of the various options above:  I have these modules listed elsewhere separately, but will discount when installed in conjunction with the restore service.

These prices are the same if you want to exchange or send me your Amp to restore, with guaranteed return of your Amp/housing.  Note:  I guarantee my rebuilt electronic boards for one year, but the factory does not guarantee the reproduction units to me or any of their Dealers; however, I feel so strongly about the new board, I will guarantee them for 90 days, if I install them as part of the restoration of the Amp.  Unlike other restorers, my amp housings have paint with the correct gloss where it should be and no paint where it should not be (based on copies of original blueprints from Delco Remy, and inspection of several original units), and they are guaranteed to work-they are tested on one of my running TI equipped cars.

I have been rebuilding/restoring Distributors and Amps for several years, and now they are one of the specialties of our Corvette Restoration business.  As an NCRS Master Judge, I made sure the restoration would not lose valuable judging points and similar units have passed the test of judging, in my Duntov Award of Excellence 66 Corvette and National Top Flight 66 Corvette (2 cars).

This
Sale is an
exchange basis or restore yours service.  I can even repair broken mounting ears, at an extra cost, but do not warranty the repair.

If you do not have a core , I have restored units to sell outright (core value added):  price is based on year/part # & availability.  I also have a few NOS units.  Some NOS units are close, but not 100% correct to OEM original configuration, depending on manufacture date (I can explain the differences).  Further, I also carry the latest/best available reproduction unit (#11115005 & #11115343 only), (the only Delco authorized reproduction) with contemporary module electronics, which are close in appearance
to OEM., but not 100% correct and will most likely have point deductions.  Sorry, no guarantees on the reproduction or NOS units. Important Note:  do not confuse these OEM restored units and Delco reproductions with other aftermarket modules, some of which are not the same electronics-I carry the best one out there.  The "Other Brand" aftermarket units; I find, are harder starting, don't run quite as well and some do not use one wire lead that the originals used (Judges know this and will deduct points)--Most importantly, they are not guaranteed and once you take it out of the box/plastic bag-it's yours, no returns.

I guarantee my restored electronic units for one year, no questions asked or mileage restrictions.  All units I restore have been tested on "the bench" and also on a running car (the only real test), so there should be no question knowing they work when they get to you.  So, if you have the wiring correct--they will work, guaranteed!  All I ask is make sure you have a good ground and the harness is in good condition and is properly wired per the GM shop manual (many times TI systems have been abandoned to run a point system and the wiring & coil changed, which are quite different-remember:  TI does not use a ballast resistor, except some Pontiac applications).

See my other listings for several original restored TI Corvette distributors (SB, even FI w/TI and BB, even early BB with unique housing for proper oiling) and some GTO/Pontiac units ready to ship or-see my other listings.  I test every distributor I restore on my Sun Distributor machine-you get the test sheet-custom advance curving available upon request!  I can restore your TI distributor or even convert your point distributor to TI-- I do have buildable cores and may take your TI or points tach drive distributor in part trade.

I also have available excellent quality, correctly embossed Delco Remy licensed reproduction TI coils (TI coils are different from point coils)-see my other listing.  Also, check out my listing of the lastest product from Delco reproductions:  Cap & Rotor-customers are calling me back, telling me they can hear and feel the difference-all due to the closer "air gap".  Discounts on Amps available with multi-purchase with a distributor, cap & rotor and coil.

I buy cores of TI amps and TI distributors
, if you have extra parts-working or not.  Ask questions or call:  505-717-1140.  For immediate shipping I can charge extra for the core charge/value (depends on year, model, etc., but approximately $250-$300 for an amp), then refund when I receive your complete rebuildable similar core (broken mounting ears and/or missing parts=reduced core value), or you can ship your core and payment without core charge.  We are you One-Stop source for early GM Transistor Ignition Systems!  See my other listings for:  C-2 vent window regulators, A-Arm & T-Arm, any/all suspension sub-components or parts and original K-O wheels-see my other listings or contact me for details.

Automakers need love, not just quality, Strategic Vision study shows

Wed, 13 Jul 2011

Strategic Vision, a company that studies how and why consumers make decisions, released its yearly Total Quality Index on July 12, and the results might be surprising. The study found that love--how much or what part of a car that people like--is more important than the number of problems a car has when choosing a vehicle. For example Ford, which was a quality leader in the study, received a number of complaints about its Sync system.

A younger, sportier look for Mercedes-Benz pays off with U.S. customers

Wed, 24 Nov 2010

When it comes to design, Mercedes-Benz was long the conservative grande dame of luxury-car makers. Styling was understated and aimed at middle-aged buyers. But a shift toward sportier and more youthful styling, partly driven by U.S.

Vauxhall ADAM S gets 148bhp: Geneva Motor Show

Mon, 03 Mar 2014

The 148bhp Vauxhall ADAM S debuts at Geneva The Vauxhall ADAM S heading for a debt at Geneva this week may be billed a concept, but it’s a racing certainty it will turn up in a Vauxhall showroom near you before too long. With a 1.4 litre Turbo ECOTEC engine good for 148bhp, the ADAM S promises to be properly lively around town (Vauxhall hasn’t decided how quick it is to 62mph yet) and will reach 137mph if you feel the need. Thankfully, Vauxhall has also endowed the ADAM S with a performance chassis to make the most of the extra performance and tweaked the steering for more feedback.
