An older unit that has worked well for me.  Used in freshwater.  It has recently been professionally serviced with ports added for coolant.  No problems noted. It blows plenty of cool air but not enough for 100 degree days on an inland South Carolina lake with no awning and a boat which is too large for this approach to begin with.  But it does work well.  It has several cosmetic issues --scratches, scrapes and rubs.  You will need a power cord --a heavy extension cord will do fine.  If your deck is not flat you will need to supply a block of wood or PVC legs to rest the forward end of the unit on.  But it has been a steady and dependable unit for me.

BMW Toyota diesel engine deal not for Lexus

Sun, 18 Dec 2011

Lexus won't get BMW diesel engines despite the Toyota deal The deal for BMW to supply Toyota with diesel engines for its range in Europe will not extend to Lexus models. The deal for BMW to supply diesel engines to Toyota for Europe (and joint work on advanced lithium ion battery technology) makes a lot of sense. BMW’s diesel engine are possibly the best there are, and Toyota need good diesel offerings in Europe to mop up sales.

New Mercedes B-Class Electric Drive goes in to production

Sat, 12 Apr 2014

The first Mercedes B-Class ED (pictured) rolls off the production line in Rastatt With the BMW i3 grabbing headlines – and flying out of showrooms – as BMW’s first electric car, Mercedes need to play catch-up with a convincing EV of their own, and that’s the new B-Class Electric Drive – an EV version of the regular B-Class – which has now gone in to production in Germany. Built alongside regular ICE versions of the B-Class at Mercedes’ Rastatt Plant, the B-Class ED (Electric Drive) looks practically the same as its more conventionally powered siblings – although the front bumper does look a bit different – and has an electric motor good for 177 bhp and 250 lb/ft of torque, can manage a scoot to 62 mph in 7.9 seconds and has a range of up to 124 miles. The range – at least the quoted range – is a chunk better than the BMW i3′s and on a par with the latest Nissan LEAF, thanks to EV technology provided by Tesla, and the wrapping of an EV drivetrain in a conventional series production car could appeal to more buyers than the ‘statement’ design of the BMW i3.

Are McLaren planning to use Honda engines for F1 in 2014?

Sun, 20 Nov 2011

Back to the glory days for McLaren Honda? There is no real love lost between McLaren and Mercedes. Respect, certainly, but McLaren has done all it can to extricate itself from business dealings with the Germans, and the final step may be a partnership with Honda to supply new engines for the McLaren F1 team.
