Local man solves roadworks problem with his own toll road

A TEMPORARY TOLL road made from rolled chippings has been opened in south-west England. Businessman Mike Watts decided to open the thoroughfare to bypass a closed section of the A431 between Bath and Bristol. The Kelston Road was shut in February following a landslip and officials say it will not be repaired until the end of the year.

Walter de'Silva awarded medal for special services to Bavaria

Walter de'Silva has been awarded a medal for special services to the Free State of Bavaria. Volkswagen's head of group design was told in a letter from the Bavarian state minister of Federal and European Affairs Emilia Müller that he had "changed the form language and design culture of Germany as a vehicle designer," going on to praise his "outstanding achievement with the world-class company Audi". It's the PSA-Jaguar Land Rover developed engine, previously available as a 2.7.The new 3.0 HDI will be fitted to the C5 and C6 in late summer 2009, replacing the 2.7. It produces 237bhp, up from 205bhp in the 2.7, yet fuel economy and CO2 both improve by around 15%.What's new on Citroen's 3.0-litre V6 HDI?The V6 gets a third generation common-rail injection system, a diesel particulate filter system and an alternator that recovers energy during braking.Both C5 and C6 3.0 HDI V6 models average 38mpg and emit 195g/km of CO2.The V6 turbodiesel was jointly developed by Ford (when it owned Jaguar Land Rover) and PSA Peugeot Citroen and is built in the Blue Oval's Dagenham, UK, diesel facility.
