The VFD Series utilizes an outboard control module which offers several benefits, the most important being simplicity. Instead of bringing bundles of wiring directly to the instruments, it will be routed to the control module (measuring 5.5" x 4.5" X 1") which can be tucked away or centralized in a convenient under-dash location. A single ribbon cable connects the display to the control module, eliminating clutter and providing simplified connections. On-board diagnostics provide simplified troubleshooting, while terminal strips provide secure wire termination.
The VFD Series now includes laboratory-grade solid state sensors for tremendous accuracy, as well as 12' harnesses with weather-tight connections to make installation a snap. Included speed sensor easily converts mechanical speedometer cable into electric when necessary. Oil pressure and water temp sensors contain 1/8" NPT sensors, as well as bushings to convert to 1/4", 3/8", 1/2" NPT, in addition to 12mm and 16mm varieties for late-model GM applications. Two pushbutton switches also enclosed allow for initial setup and scrolling through Message Center displays.
Displays included with this instrument system: Speedometer (0-255 MPH or KPH), Tachometer, Oil Pressure, Water Temp, Voltmeter, Fuel Level.
Also shown is: Odometer, Trip Odometer, Resettable Service Odometer and Hourmeter.
Several performance calculations include: 0-60 MPH (0-100 KPH) timer, ¼ mile timer, ¼ mile speed display, High Speed recall and High RPM recall.
Various Indicators can also be displayed such as: Turn Signals, High Beam, Check Engine, Parking Brake, Cruise Control, 4x4 (when equipped), Wait to Start (when equipped).
Automatic Transmission gear indicator is also included which will display the full name (ie: Park, Overdrive, etc.) of the current gear. Utilizing the gear position indicator will require the use of a Dakota Digital GSS-2000 sending unit (see our other items).
Dakota Digital instruments systems also include a Demonstration Mode which will cycle the instrument readouts while the vehicle is standing still. This is especially popular while the vehicle is on display at a show, event or simply displaying the instrument system.
Full Metric conversions will cycle between MPH or KPH with the press of a button. If full (Celsius & KPH) metric instrument systems are required, please specify upon ordering.
Necessary sensors included for oil pressure (1/8” NPT), Water Temp (1/8" with bushings for 1/4", 3/8", 1/2” NPT as well 12mm and 16mm for GM LS applications) and speedometer pulse generator.
Fuel level gauge can read either OEM sensor, or any aftermarket style currently available. A universal fuel level sender, SEN-06-1, can be purchased if necessary (see our other items).

Built-in dimmer will reduce the display intensity as headlights/ parking lights are activated.
Fully adjustable warning points alert the user of potential vehicle problems.

Dakota Digital is proud to introduce the BIM Expansion modules for Dakota Digital VFD and VHX instrument systems. The introduction of the Dakota Digital BIM modules allow you to add up to an additional 16 gauges, that's right we said SIXTEEN specialty gauges to your vehicle without the need to cut extra holes in the dash or installing pillar and pod mounts to your columns or under the dash.
Because the required sensors (oil pressure, water temp, and speed) are included with all Dakota Digital instrument packages, in some cases no additional parts will be required. However, you may wish to consider the following optional items depending upon your application and desired features:

DIM-1 Rotory dimmer control allows on-the-fly brightness adjustment of instrument system during nighttime mode. While the system will auto-dim with the headlights, this allows you to tailor the brightness to your preference
SEN-06-1 Universal fuel level sensor, great for custom or universal fuel tanks. While the instrument system will read a stock or aftermarket fuel level sensor, this unit is a great replacement if there is no existing sensor.
GSS-2000 Gear Shift indicator is the perfect complement to any automatic transmission. Easily mounting to the side of the transmission, this device also contains a neutral safety switch and reverse backup circuit. All Dakota Digital instrument systems contain a gear shift indicator, the addition of the GSS-2000 will activate this useful display.
PAC-1300 Retained ACC Power w/ Headlight & Dome Light Control - Combining three very popular functions, the new Dakota Digital PAC-1300 offers automatic headlight control, dome light control, and retained accessory power! Similar to some features found in several new production vehicles, the PAC-1300 will activate the vehicle’s headlights in low ambient light conditions and turn off the headlights as those conditions are increased to a safe level. This new revolutionary unit will leave the headlights on for a user selectable time as the vehicle is exited to safely light your path. The PAC-1300 also contains a user selectable time delay on the dome light after closing a door, or turning off the key. Instead of abruptly turning on and off, the PAC-1300 adds a smooth fade on and off operation to your existing dome light. The PAC-1300 also keeps your vehicle’s accessories active until a door is opened after the ignition key has been turned off! The PAC-1300 provides up to 20 minutes of “key off” operation, giving the user complete control of the power windows, radio, or any other vehicle accessory.
CRS-3000 Cruise Control for Electronic Speedometers - For vehicles with electronic speedometers, or for use with Dakota Digital instruments - Includes electric servo, mounting hardware, wiring harness, and choice of control handle. Compatible with 2,000 to 40,000 pulse per mile (PPM) speed signals. (Dakota Digital instruments use 8,000 ppm signals).
BIM-01-1 OBD-II / CAN Interface - The BIM-01-1 OBD-II / CAN Interface allows you to plug directly into the engine diagnostic port, extracting engine data from the OBD-II computer (ECU). The BIM-01-1 will output Speed, Techometer, and Engine Temp. If data is available it will also read Intake Air Temp, Transmission Temp, Ambient Air Temp, and Gear Position.
BIM-03-2 Pressure Module - The BIM-03-2 is a multi-pressure module that allows you to add up to 3 additional pressure readings to your VFD3 (rev G) or VHX gauges. The BIM-03-1 utilizes Solid State Pressure senders to give you phenomenal accuracy (*see resolutions in the chart below). Pressure Inputs: Pressure (generic fluid or air), Fuel Pressure, Air Pressure, Boost/Vacuum, or NOS Pressure.
BIM-04-1 Temperature Module - The BIM-04-1 is a multi-Temperature module that allows you to add up to 3 additional temperature readings to your VFD3 (rev G) or VHX gauges. The BIM-04-1 utilizes Ground Isolated senders for easy installation without the headache of engine grounding. Pressure Inputs: Temperature (generic fluid or air), Water Temp, Oil Temp, Transmission Temp, or Differential Temp.
BIM-05-1 Voltage/ Current Module - The BIM-05-1 allows the Dakota Digital VHX and VFD systems to display up to 2 additional Volt or 2 Current or a combination of 1 Volt and 1 Current readings.
BIM-12-1 EGT, Head Temperature Module - The Dakota Digital BIM-12-1 Exhaust Gas Temp (EGT) and Cylinder Head Temp (CHT) Module allows for up to 2 temperature inputs (ie 2 EGT or 2CHT or 1 EGT & 1 CHT readings).
BIM-13-1 The Dakota Digital BIM-13-1 Wide Band Air/Fuel ratio monitor allows you to display the reading from almost any aftermarket wide band controller system. User-programmable to display in either as an air/fuel ratio or lambda display. The BIM-13-1 is able to scale its output for use with nearly any Air/Fuel Controller available with a 0-5V output. Common brands of aftermarket Air/Fuel Controllers include Innovate Motorsports, NGK, FAST and AEM among others.
BIM-14-1 Air Temperature Module - The Dakota Digital Air Temperature Module BIM-14-1 allows you to monitor up to 3 Air Temperature readings: Outside, Inside and Air Intake.
BIM-16-1 Clock Module: The Dakota Digital BIM-16-1 is the perfect addition to your VFD gauge cluster. The BIM-16-1 allows you to have a clock in any vehicle whether or not it had a clock to start with. Simply plug the BIM-16-1 Clock module into any VFD system (with plastic control box only) and you're done, no cutting holes and no unsightly mounting hardware. Provides either 12 or 24 hour formats.
BIM-17-1 Compass w/ Outside Temperature Module - The Dakota Digital BIM-17-1 module makes it easy to install a 8 direction Compass and Outside Air Temperature without installing another gauge in your vehicle. Senders and mounting hardware included.
BIM-19-1 Quad Air Pressure Module - The Dakota Digital BIM-19-1 Quad Air Pressure Module allows you to monitor 2- 4 bag pressures on your air ride system. Choose between a 4 corner, left and right or front and rear pressure system. Also available tank pressure reading.
