Hungarian Grand Prix 2012: Hamilton on pole for McLaren
Sat, 28 Jul 2012In a dominant display at the Hungaroring. Lewis Hamilton has put McLaren on pole for tommorow’s Hungarian Grand Prix. We said after last week’s German Grand Prix that it looks like McLaren has found the speed that’s been eluding them lately, and if Hamilton’s qualifying for tomorrow’s Grand Prix at the Hungaroring is anything to go by they’ve not only found the speed they’d lost but a bit more too.
Audi to buy Ducati – the four rings expands from four wheels
Mon, 12 Mar 2012Audi has struck an exclusive deal giving it first rights to buy Italian superbike manufacturer Ducati, CAR can reveal. The exclusivity deal gives Audi until mid April when the deal will likely be finalised, according to high-ranking sources contacted by CAR. Ducati's liabilities are around €200 million [earlier report said €800 million, this has been corrected], and our sources suggest the total purchase price is about €250m-€300m. This is a bold move by Audi, which sees the long-term advantage in moving into two wheels as well as four.
Essex boost for car loving home buyers
Sun, 31 May 2009An Essex council is to make garages and drives bigger on new homes For most of the last decade the UK Government has waged a war on the motorist. Endless speed cameras, which are in reality just tax-raising machines and have little to do with road safety; never-ending fuel tax rises; congestion charging; spiralling parking charges; road-charging schemes and the only coppers you see have a speed gun so non-speeding untaxed and uninsured drivers never get caught - pushing up costs for the rest of us. But one of the most stupid, head-in-the-sand policies was the idea that new houses should encourage people to forsake their cars by making garages too small and off-street parking almost non-existent.
