College Exhibition: Royal College of Art Show 2005

For the 18th year Pilkington Automotive sponsored the RCA's Vehicle Design Awards. Leslie Lau won the Best Design Interpretation Award for his Emotive-HYDRO:GEN electric vehicle design, a futuristic look at the automobile which retains the spirit of driving passion. Aimed at the single urbanite and powered by a hydrogen fuel cell, the vehicle also seeks to address issues of recyclability through the use of recycled pulp, most commonly found in egg boxes, in the exterior body panels.

Toyota Fuel Cell Sedan

The exterior design of the Toyota Fuel Cell Sedan has been unveiled and, much to our disappointment, it appears to be a productionized version of last year's FCV concept, a car we felt one of the least impressive of 2013 in terms of design resolution. The Fuel Cell Sedan retains the FCV's gaping lower mask gills that appear to be blanked-off in this instance. They lend the car a very aggressive, hungry face – surely a negative message for a car that majors on a technology that promises to be incredibly efficient and environmentally-friendly.

Lamborghini URUS – the FX70 killer

Perhaps the Lamborghini Concept by Active Design points the way for the new Lamborghini Urus? Lamborghini has been long on new models – for a high-end supercar maker – but short on new cars for quite some time. Sure, we’ve had evolutions of the Gallardo in to the LP560 and the Murcielago in to the LP640 and it’s siblings.
