Below is the history of Autoform:

Autoform has a very deep history in racing, as we have been racing for almost as long as the company has been in business. We use this experience daily to help create the best products available, because after all the ultimate test for an automotive product is in the heat of battle, on track.

The story of Autoform Racing begins nearly 20 years ago when Steve Dreyer helped form and grow the "Viper Days" Viper Racing Series with the series founder L.M "Skip" Thomas. This small racing instruction and Time-Trial series quickly grew into the ultimate wheel-to-wheel race series between some of the top vipers in world. The series had cars ranging from mostly-unchanged street cars, up to heavily modified racing machines, and Autoform served as the Trackside Support to all, as they helped with everything from setup of the cars to maintenance (and of course, rebuilding after the inevitable wreck that will happen during the course of a weekend).

Eventually AF built the Viper GT-R. This purpose built racer dominated the series for many years, and is still competing, and winning to this day in series like NASA. This car was popular among the elite in the Viper Racing Community, as it has many notable drivers such as Viper days and Viper Racing League Founder "Skip" Thomas, "Father Viper" Roy Sjöberg, and one of Autoform's longest racing partners and 1997 Overall Viper racing League Champion Howie Frank.

In 2001 AF built 9 cars that helped honor the history of the original Factory-Backed Dodge Viper GTS-R that was campaigned by Oreca, and that teams triumph at the 2000 24 Hours of Daytona,as they became the first GT car to ever win the race overall since prototypes began racing at the Daytona 24. The "Daytona Viper 24" became one of Autoform's most recognizable cars, and even though it was a street-legal car, it is woven into the history of AF Racing. In the following years Autoform would slowly begin to back out on racing. But, now AFR is in the beginning stages of planning its return to racing, in both the arena of Viper racing, and the all-out world of open-wheel racing, so, stay tuned for more information on the future of AFR and its racing program as we prepare to write the next chapter in the history of the team.

Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse world speed record: Video

Mon, 29 Apr 2013

We hoped that tease might be for something really interesting and new – perhaps the much rumoured 1600bhp Veyron or even the Galibier –  but it was simply a new world record for an open-topped production car. Impressive, of course, but just more of what we expect from Bugatti, rather than something new and innovative. The new world record for the Vitesse was set at the VW facility at Ehra-Lessien where Chinese driver Anthony Liu took the Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse to 254mph, creating a new world record for an open-topped production car and, more importantly for Bugatti, an excuse to produce a limited run of the Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse WRC Edition with a black and orange paint job for €1.99 million each.
