Volkswagen launches 'Future of the Car'

Volkswagen has launched a new micro-site which looks at what people may be driving in the future - or whether they will be driving at all. Revolving around a short film set in the year 2028, in which a father tells his son about the automobile world of 20 years ago, the website showcases the Wolfsburg-based automaker's vision of the automotive world 20 years from now. These 'visions of the future', which take shape in the form of three autonomous concept cars called the 'One', 'Ego' and 'Room', offer an insight into the automotive world of tomorrow as seen through the tinted spectacles of Volkswagen developers and designers.

MAZDA has released details on the brand-new fourth generation MX-5, already the best selling roadster of all time. Launched simultaneously at events in Barcelona, Japan and the USA, the fourth-generation MX-5 is the first to benefit from Mazda’s SkyActiv efficient technology. The BMW EfficientDynamics is set for production in 2013 Probably the biggest show stopper at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show was the BMW Vision EfficientDynamics Concept, which offered a diesel hybrid setup withn two electric motors, M3 levels of performance and low emissions with 75mpg. In essence, a BMW M1 for the Eco generation. Since BMW revealed their Vision ED other premium car makers have joined the eco-supercar game and announced production of what amount to high-performance hybrids and/or electric cars. Mercedes has confirmed they are working on an SLS AMG E-Cell, with a working prototype already running around.
