To bring this Carburetor back to its best possible condition it was completely disassembled, cleaned and rebuilt as follows:
  • Carburetor base and upper half was solvent dipped, cleaned and polished to ensure all fuel and air passages are in proper working condition.
  • New gaskets, needle and seats, and metering rods were installed.
  • New Floats were installed and properly adjusted to ensure proper performance.
  • Jets were either replaced or thoroughly cleaned to ensure proper fuel delivery.
  • New Accelerator pump was installed and tested for proper fuel delivery.
  • New Choke cap was installed and tested to ensure reliable operation.
  • Choke housing was solvent dipped, cleaned, polished and lubricated to ensure proper operation
  • All internal components were removed, solvent dipped, cleaned and polished to ensure proper fuel and air flow.
  • This carburetor is as clean inside as it is outside.
  • Carburetor mounting gasket is included.

Here's a little about my business. 

My goal is to provide a high quality carburetor for a reasonable price. In the end I make a few extra dollars for my efforts and my customers get a very nice carburetor for a fraction of the cost. It's a win-win for everyone. I will stand behind my carburetors if you have any problems and will work to make things right if you're not satisfied. I do limit my refund period to 30 days to allow time to make sure the carburetor works as designed. 

I've been buying cores and rebuilding them for many years. Recently I picked up a large quantity of extremely good quality cores which need very little work to bring them back to a high quality condition. As you can see in the pictures, the carburetor is very clean inside and out.

After complete disassembly, the carburetor is put through a 6 step cleaning process. First, it's soaked in a heavy carburetor solvent to loosen and dissolve any heavy residue, then scrubbed with various nylon brushes for thorough cleaning. Second is a lighter solvent to flush and clean the loosened grime and reduce the heavy solvent. Third is a degreaser solution to remove the remaining solvent. Forth is a hot water bath to remove all chemical residue. Fifth is high pressure air to blow out all of the small air and fuel orifices and finally each and every part is soaked in WD-40 to protect and lubricate them. 

The exterior of the carburetor is polished as needed to make it as close to a new carburetor finish as possible. All of the removable interior parts are also polished to remove any tarnish or discoloration created by previous use.

Each part is wiped clean of the WD-40 and once again blown out with high pressure air prior to being reinstalled. Each part is then tested after installation to make sure it functions as designed. 

These are rebuilt carburetors and I do my best to make them look as nice as they can possibly look, but more important is to make sure they function as designed. I don't cut corners, it's just not worth it. I rebuild every carburetor myself and I refuse to take a chance that the carburetor won't work properly when I'm finished.

Chris Bangle's ‘Illustrate the Future’ competition winner announced

Renowned designer Chris Bangle announced the winner of the ‘Illustrate the Future' design competition as Luis Fernando Peña Delgado at the end of the Interior Motives China conference yesterday. 22-year-old Delgado, a student of design at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia, Bogota, Colombia, was chosen by the judges under the direction of Bangle on the basis that his entry best followed the criteria of closeness to the original text, the quality of the illustrations and the creative content. The global competition's brief asked for students from any design discipline to examine excerpts from the eBook "Peter Teuful, A Tale of car design in Three parts" – written by Bangle himself – and translate them into a series of images.

Mercedes-Benz starts voluntary recall of 2013 SL-class

Mercedes-Benz has initiated a voluntary recall for its 2013 SL-class due to an issue with the air-conditioning system. Under “worst-case condition” testing during a severe front impact, a rupture of the refrigerant line is possible, which could cause a fire in the engine compartment. According to the report from Mercedes Benz, the refrigerant does not ignite under normal conditions.
