Description: Most vehicles have a temperature gauge, but it lacks the ability to provide an audible warning when problem exists. This system will show the real-time engine temperature on a digital display. If the engine overheats, the Engine Guardian will start beeping intermittently to warn the driver. When the engine temperature continuously climbing, it will beep continuously. The main purpose of this device is to protect the car engine from overheating. Typically, the engine temperature will increase beyond normal operating temperatures before serious damage starts setting in. As the Engine Guardian will detect abnormally high engine temperatures, and provide an audio as well as visual guide to the operating temperatures of the engine, the driver will be able to judge and work to reduce the operating temperature (slow down, or stop the car for a while). The B-Max demonstrates a production ready B-pillar-less sliding rear door, as well as other ecologically minded additions, strongly suggesting that the show car is little more than a thinly veiled doppelganger for a production model. The B segment car is powered by a turbocharged three cylinder, one liter EcoBoost engine, combined with a start-stop mechanism to produce significantly improved economy and CO2 ratings.
Honda Insight goes for $1,560 less with new base model
Tue, 30 Nov 2010Honda slashed $1,560 from the base price of its Insight hybrid for the 2011 model year, creating a new entry-level trim that carries a sticker price of $18,950, including destination charges. The move gives the Insight a pricing edge of about $4,610 over the Toyota Prius. The Insight LX was the base model for the 2010 model year, and its price started at $20,510.
Toyota says Prius plug-in gets 65 mpg
Mon, 02 Feb 2009Toyota Priuses with plug-in hybrid technology are averaging 65 mpg in combined gasoline and electric-mode testing. "That is real-world driving," said Bill Reinert, Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A.'s national alternative-fuel vehicle manager. "I ask my guys to drive them as you drive your normal Prius." By comparison, the redesigned 2010 Prius, a parallel hybrid with nickel-metal hydride batteries, will have an estimated 50 mpg rating.
