Wed, 26 Sep 2012At a glamorous awards ceremony at the Espace Clacquesin in Paris earlier this evening, the world's top designers and automotive journalists gathered together to watch sponsors Peugeot and Volkswagen reveal the 2012 Interior Motives Student Design of the Year: ‘Autopool' by Siavash Jafari Jozani and Mina Kasirifar from the University of Tehran. At the end of what was a memorable event, the two Iranian students walked away with one of the most prestigious accolades in the automotive design industry and a cash prize of $5,000. The 65,000-mile California car is claimed to be “one of the most original 101-series Giulietta Sprints in existence today with all-original interior, mostly original paint, perfect gauges, factory engine-compartment components, no accidents, and straight chrome and trim.” Curiously, the engine and transmission were removed and rebuilt in 1975 but were never reinstalled. It’s hard not to feel a bit let down by the Subaru BRZ. Perhaps the quote attributed to Subaru that the BRZ would get ‘less than 300bhp’ was lost in translation, but the fact the BRZ comes with just three horses more than its cousin the Toyota FT-86 just leaves a feeling of disappointment.
