Helmet Sizing Tips

Your motorcycle helmet fit is critical to the comfort and enjoyment of your helmet. It also plays a critical role in the performance of your helmet in the event of a collision.

Never wear a motorcycle helmet without making sure you have a proper snug fit (not too tight, and not too loose - just right!)

There are several methods and tricks to size a motorcycle helmet. We recommend the following method:

1. Estimate your size

Get a flexible tape measure. If you do not have a cloth measure tape, then you can tape 2 pieces of paper together, mark it and measure the paper. Wrap the tape measure around your head over the tip of your ears, 1 inch over your eyebrows and the widest part of your head. Pull the tape comfortably tight in order to achieve best results. Measure 2-3 times for a more accurate measurement. Use size chart to determine best fit. Often times your head measurement may fall between two helmet sizes. When this occurs you should first try the smaller size. The Size Chart is provided by the manufacturer and does not guarantee a perfect fit. Please use this chart as a guide only.

2. Not too tight

Once you have your new motorcycle helmet, put the helmet on by grasping the chin strap in each hand and pulling it on over your ears until you feel the top portion of the motorcycle helmet touch. Check for the following red flags:

  • The motorcycle helmet immediately feels too tight.
  • Your head does not touch the top of the motorcycle helmet.
  • You can't pull the helmet down over your ears.
  • It's painful in anyway. If any of these apply, you probably need the next size larger.

3. Not too loose

Once you have found a motorcycle helmet that feels comfortable and snug, you must make sure that it is not too loose. To do this, securely fasten the chin strap, grasp the helmet chin bar or sides firmly with one hand and try to move the helmet from side to side and up and down. If the motorcycle helmet slides on your skin and hair, it is too large. If your scalp and skin want to move with the helmet, the fit is about right.

4. Just Right

One final check. Reach back to the back of the motorcycle helmet and try to rotate the helmet as far down and forward as possible, then as far backward as possible. If the motorcycle helmet feels as if it might slide off in either direction, the motorcycle helmet is either too big or the chin strap was not securely fastened.

If you passed these tests, you now have a properly fitting helmet that will maximize safety and minimize wind noise as well!

Infiniti M Line (2010/2011) – M37 & M30d – at Geneva +video

Mon, 22 Feb 2010

Infiniti are debuting the Infiniti M Line at the Geneva Motor Show Back in December Nissan released a heap of detail on their range-topping Infiniti – the Infiniti M Line – aimed at European buyers of the 5 Series and E Class. But sadly for us we’re not going to get the real halo Infiniti M Line – the M56 – instead we have to make do with the 3.7 litre V6 petrol – the M37 – and the 3.0 litre diesel – the M30d. We will be getting the M35 hybrid later, but that doesn’t look as if it’s Geneva bound.

Stig outed as Ben Collins – again

Mon, 23 Aug 2010

The Stig is Ben Collins It’s a game Top Gear has played since the days of ‘Black Stig’ (Perry McCarthy – F1 almost was) – Who is the Stig? Not only has it provided the Beeb with an endless run of free publicity as everyone and his dog speculates on the Stig’s identity, they’ve even made money on the back of the Stig’s identity with Stig-focused games and goodies from the gloriously tacky range of Top Gear ephemera. And this last week Stiggy has been in the news as he tries to get his memoirs published – Stig: The Autobiography – much to the consternation of the Beeb, who believe his contract gives him no chance of revealing his identity.
