Press leaving Chrysler, report says

Chrysler Group Deputy CEO Jim Press is planning to leave the company before the end of the year, according to a report Friday by The Wall Street Journal, citing unnamed sources. Press, 62, is expected to leave before December, one of the newspaper's sources said. Chrysler spokesman Gualberto Ranieri declined to comment on the paper's report.

European Parliament: electric cars must make noise

The European Parliament has voted in favour of a European Commission proposal to decrease the maximum allowed noise for new cars, vans, trucks, buses and coaches, in an effort to reduce “vehicle noise nuisance” by 25%. At the same time, the EU has voted in favour of a proposal to force carmakers to fit electric and hybrid electric vehicles with a sound generating device, to improve low speed safety for pedestrians and the visually impaired. Good fun at Goodwood

The 2010 Goodwood Festival of Speed started with a bang--and a bent Jaguar E-Type. But by the end of the weekend, the festival was being acclaimed by both fans and participants as one of the most successful runnings of the annual event so far. As always, the festival took place at the house and grounds of Lord March's sizeable estate in West Sussex, England, being extended to four days this year by the addition of a new “Moving Motorshow.” This is clearly intended to become a regular fixture and a replacement for Britain's cancelled “International” motor show.
