Toyota reveals Qashqai rival teaser
Mon, 15 Sep 2014THE CROSSOVER bubble seems to be far from bursting, with Toyota revealing a sneak preview of the car it hopes can challenge the Nissan Qashqai. The C-HR concept will be revealed fully for the first time at the Paris Motor Show at the beginning of October. It is said to be fitted with a hybrid drivetrain and is likely to be based on the same chassis that underpins the Lexus NX compact SUV that has recently been launched to global media.

With Mercedes take on a compact SUV with the new GLA revealed at Frankfurt in September, we’d expected Mercedes would put the 4WD power plant from the A 45 AMG and CLA 45 AMG under the skin of the new GLA to make a very hot compact SUV. This year’s theme is ‘Swinging Sixties’ which gives us the excuse to run the shot of the Mini-Skirted lovelies at the top. There will be a recreation of Carnaby Street from its sixties heyday, with Saturday being ‘Ladies Day’ with the encouragement to wear the shortest skirts possible (I think there should be a ‘Leg Judge’ to qualify the participants, though – I know, chauvinist pig).
