If you are looking to upgrade that old, tired Ford 289 or Ford 302 and bolt in extra horsepower this Ford 302 EZ-EFI® turnkey crate engine with the included Ford AOD automatic transmission by Tuff Dawg Engines would be an EXCELLENT choice with 280hp @ 5000rpm and 315ft lbs of torque @ 4000rpm. This engine has a semi-rough idle with enough cam to give it that muscle car sound but is still mild enough to be reliable for that everyday driver or restoration project. The included AOD automatic transmission comes with a mild stall speed torque converter. This engine runs on leaded or unleaded premium pump fuel.

The balanced rotating assembly (typically includes crankshaft, pistons, rings, connecting rods, rod bearings, and balancer) featured in this engine:

  • 3.000" stroke nodular iron crank
  • 5.090" forged rods with ARP rod bolts
  • 9 to 1 compression pistons

More special features of this engine include:

  • Seasoned block that has been vatted, magnafluxed for cracks, thermal cleaned and steelabrated, bored, honed and plateau honed to fit new flat top oversized pistons
  • Deck head gasket surface on block to ensure a good long lasting seal
  • New CompCams Hydraulic flat tappet cam with .500" valve lift
  • Heads have 3-angle valve job
  • Heads have 1.780"Int/1.450"Exh valves
  • Both heads have been resurfaced to ensure a good long lasting seal
  • New Hardened exhaust seats for use with leaded or unleaded fuel
  • New High performance springs set up to match cam
  • New Valve seals

  • New 1.6 roller tip rocker arms with balls and nuts

This engine comes completely assembled with oil pan, timing cover, harmonic balancer, valve covers, and Edelbrock aluminum intake manifold.

This Is A Real Turnkey Engine

This engine has been started on gas and run. The camshaft has been broken in and the valves adjusted. The 4150 throttle body and timing has been initially set, but should be checked after installing in vehicle.

It is important that your transmission, torque converter stall speed, rear end gear ratio, tire size, and engine (including compression ratio and cam duration) all match for you to get the full potential and fuel mileage for your application and use.

When ordering this transmission you must provide us with your rear end gear ratio and the overall height of your rear tires in inches so that we can help you select the correct transmission and torque converter stall speed for your personal application and use.
