If you are looking to upgrade that old, tired Ford 289 or Ford 302 in your 1966 to 1976 Bronco this Ford 331 stroker crate engine by Tuff Dawg Engines is the answer. Using a Holley 4 barrel carb bolt pattern, this Ford 331 stroker engine will bolt right in place of your old 289 or 302 engine to wake up your Bronco and give it more power than it ever has had! This Tuff Dawg high performance engine puts the focus on low and midrange power, exactly where needed most in a 4x4. This engine works best with a Holley 570cfm Street Avenger carb for street and mild four wheeling. For those of you that get your Bronco on different angles when four wheeling we recommend using the Holley 670cfm Truck Avenger.

The balanced rotating assembly (typically includes crankshaft, pistons, rings, connecting rods, rod bearings, and balancer) featured in this engine:

  • 3.250" cast steel crank (use with 28oz flexplate or flywheel)
  • 5.400" rods with ARP rod bolts
  • 9 to 1 compression forged pistons

More special features of this engine include:

  • Seasoned block that has been vatted, magnafluxed for cracks, thermal cleaned and steelabrated, bored, honed and plateau honed to fit new flat top forged oversized pistons
  • Deck head gasket surface on block to ensure a good long lasting seal
  • There are many different piston, rod, and stroke combinations on the market today for the 331 and 347 Ford engines. Our combination has the longest rod length possible allowing the best rod angle in the market. The longer rod allows the piston to dwell longer at the top and bottom of the cylinder for a greater fuel/air charge. The forged piston we use is designed with the rings close to the top of the piston, allowing less gasses to get trapped in between the piston and cylinder wall minimizing detonation by allowing a cleaner, hotter burn. This is simply not possible with many of the other combinations available today. The oil ring on our engine does not intersect into the wrist pin making it a more reliable, stronger ring having less chance to flex and use oil like many other widely used combinations. We have seen many engines using these other combinations that have failed prematurely due to the poor oil ring land design that shortens engine life. So before you build or buy a stroker motor, do your homework, we have!
  • New Hydraulic flat tappet cam to put the focus on low end and midrange power
  • Cast iron heads have 3-angle valve job
  • Heads have 1.780"Int/1.450"Exh valves
  • Both heads have been resurfaced to ensure a good long lasting seal
  • New Hardened exhaust seats for use with leaded or unleaded fuel

Lexus LFA: First production LFA in the UK at Goodwood

Sun, 08 May 2011

The Lexus LFA turns up at the Goodwood Supercar Sunday Breakfast Club The Lexus LFA hasn’t had an easy gestation. Half a generation from the promise to the reality, and endless hiccups with lease and buy-back plans in the US – where Lexus initially refused to sell the LFA – meant many of the headlines were less than positive. Which is a real shame.

Lexus LFA Roadster coming

Tue, 28 Sep 2010

Lexus LFA Roadster The Lexus LFA is a very odd car from a company seemingly obsessed with all things ‘Green’, to the point where it finally builds the small Lexus we’ve expected for years and then lumbers it with a Hobson’s choice with the oily bits. All that’s on offer in the CT200 is hybrid misery and CVT. Nothing else.

RCA team helps develop all-electric London taxi proposal

Fri, 17 Jan 2014

The Royal College of Art's Vehicle Design program and the Helen Hamlyn Centre for Design have collaboratedwith Turkish car manufacturer Karsan to develop a proposal for the first all-electric London taxi. An RCA team – co-led by Professor Dale Harrow and the Helen Hamlyn Centre for Design's deputy director Rama Gheerawo – has been working with Karsan and its consultancy Hexagon Studio for over a year and to develop a public transport vehicle to suit Londoners of all ages and abilities. The team analyzed a current London taxi in a ‘co-creation workshop' and conducted interviews with taxi drivers, which showed many are over 65 and frequently spend the entire working day inside their cabs.
