1966 Ford C4 Transmission
This is a Ford C4 transmission that originally came out of a 1966 Mustang with a floor mounted shifter. The shift arm is still the same floor mounted arm, but with a bracket built to allow for a column mounted shifter as well. I can include or discard the small bracket at the buyer's request. This listing includes a small 6 bolt bellhousing (157 tooth) for mounting to all post-65 Small Block Ford engines as well as a 2800RPM "Boss Hog" stall converter. The bellhousing has no cracks, and both pin bosses are in good workable condition. Also included is a Transmission dipstick tube.

This particular transmission was rebuilt a few years ago by Jason at J&L Transmissions in Temecula. The rebuild consisted of a new 3rd planetary gear set, as well as brand new front pump and mild B&M Shift Kit. Since the rebuild, the transmission has seen roughly 5,000 miles behind a mild 307 street engine in a 1974 Mercury Comet, before being replaced by a 347 Stroker and a T5 combination. Since then, the transmission has been kept in a climate controlled garage underneath the old engine. As you can see in the image, the original kickdown arm appears to have been tampered with. This was not my doing, but I had never had any troubles with it performing as designed. If need be, it is not a difficult part to swap out with whatever you need instead, depending on how your kickdown is set up on your carburetor.

Both input spline and torque converter are the matching 24-Spline units, and the torque converter has a 10.500 mounting diameter. This transmission will work very well for stock, to mildly modified street engines, though I cannot say with any certainty what horsepower ratings it would withstand consistently. Suffice to say, that if you're not beating on it on a racetrack night in and night out, it should last you a long time. Keep in mind, when it was installed by J&L, the warranty was 20,000 miles. That should give you an indication as to the type of quality work they do. It has served me well, and if I didn't absolutely have to have a 3rd petal, it would most likely still be in my car.

If you have any specific questions, feel free to contact me. I will do my best in providing any and all information I have not listed above.

SEMA ups scholarship money for car-crazed college kids

Mon, 07 Jan 2013

The Specialty Equipment Market Association, better known to most of us as SEMA, has announced a hefty boost to its SEMA Memorial Scholarship Fund for 2013: The top student selected now gets $1,000 more for a total of $5,000 toward an automotive-related college education. Other eligible participants in four-year programs get $3,000—last year, they only received $2,000—and two-year students get their funds doubled to $2,000. In the Buckeye State, one lucky student at the Ohio Technical College will get complete tuition coverage, which is a cool $29,400.

McLaren 650S to make Geneva debut

Wed, 12 Feb 2014

McLaren Automotive The McLaren 650S will be the star of the British brand’s display at the 2014 Geneva motor show, it has been confirmed. At this stage McLaren has revealed little other than the name, and a close-up shot of the car’s badge. It says, however, that the 650S “takes learnings from both the 12C as well as the sell-out McLaren P1 and will be positioned between the two on McLaren Automotive’s supercar grid”.
