No need to cut any wires. Here is what you do for an Edge.

First, slide a small flat-head screwdriver into the slot of the cap that covers the visor mount, and slide it toward the windshield to pop the cap off.

Then, you’ll need a
torx screwdriver to unscrew these screws.

Once you have the visor unscrewed, you’ll notice the plug is hidden behind the headliner, and you can’t pull it out.

You’ll have to pull out the top half of the A-pillar cover (it just snaps out and back in) and then pull down some of the headliner (only the A-pillar and the black molding are holding it up at this point).

From there, you’ll see the green clip on top of the headliner, but it’s glued down. I have rather large hands, so I used a flat-head screwdriver to pry it off of the headliner.

From there, you’ll have enough slack in the wire to pull the plug out through the visor mount. Now it’s straight forward. Unplug the old visor, send it to me and I will install a homelink and return it, plug the new one in, tuck the wires back in, tuck the headliner back under the black molding, pop the A-pillar cover back on, screw the visor back on, and pop the cover back in place.

Volkswagen’s budget brand close to production (2013)

Mon, 07 Jan 2013

VW is approaching the critical phase of its plan to launch a range of aggressively priced base products. How aggressive? Well, we´re looking at €7000 for a four-door family saloon, €7500 for a boxy estate and about €8000 for a basic MPV.

Porsche Panamera Convertible coming

Fri, 09 Oct 2009

Porsche are planning a 2 door Panamera Convertible That new Porsche 928 now looks an even more likely possibility after Automotive News reported that Porsche are looking to make a convertible Panamera. But it won’t be a four door convertible, but a two door. The report says that is to help with rigidity (we buy that) and to keep weight down (yeah, just like they have on the saloon), but what it does mean is that Porsche could easily engineer a fixed-roof, shortened Panamera to create a high-end GT in the style of the 928.

Tesla Roadster vs Top Gear

Wed, 17 Dec 2008

As I’m sure many of you will have seen at the weekend, Clarkson got to play with the Tesla Roadster, an electric sports car based on the Lotus Elise. Made for interesting viewing. It was obvious that the weight of the batteries would compromise the handling, but its actual straight-line speed was a real revelation.
